IMPORTANT NOTES WHEN REGISTERING:

1. A "half-point bye" is a request for an unrated draw INSTEAD of playing a rated game for a particular round. PLEASE DO NOT CHECK THE BOX FOR A HALF-POINT BYE UNLESS YOU ARE COMMITING TO NOT PLAYING THAT ROUND. NOTE: The Online Registration form only allows you to request a half-point bye in the first round or the first AND second rounds of the tournament. ALL OTHER REQUESTS FOR HALF-POINT BYES MUST BE MADE IN PERSON AT THE TOURNAMENT, BEFORE Round 2 (the advertised deadline for committing to half-point byes). Players are not permitted to make changes to their half-point byes after the deadline.

3. Please bring a digital chess clock to use in the tournament!

Providing false information in order to attempt to register for a section for which a player is ineligible is grounds for disqualification from the tournament with no refund. Further penalties may also be imposed by the U.S. Chess Federation as well.

CONTINENTAL CHESS COVID-19 POLICY

By entering any tournament, players agree that Continental Chess cannot guarantee that they will not as a result become infected with COVID-19. Entrants further certify that during the 10-day period before the tournament, unless subsequently testing negative, they have not experienced any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which include fever, cough, or shortness of breath, or had close contact with anyone who is either confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19.

Players are encouraged to receive pairings by text or email. You should be able to check standings online prior to entering the playing hall. Pairings will be posted at the site, but it is better to find your information before you arrive.

Crowds should not congregate around pairings or standings or outside doors of the playing halls.

BEST PRACTICE SUGGESTIONS: Please try to limit the number of non-players in tournament areas. If you have a group of young players competing, please consider assigning no more than a couple of parents to wait for those players at any given time. This will reduce the crowds around exits and in hallways, which promotes a safer atmosphere for everyone.

Within 10 days of the tournament, if you experience any symptoms consistent with COVID-19, and do not test negative, please do NOT attend. These symptoms include, but are not limited to, fever, respiratory distress, and shortness of breath. If within 10 days of the tournament, you have any close contact with anyone who is either confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19, and do not test negative, please do NOT attend. This includes close contact with anyone who is experiencing or displaying any symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
